Assessment Data on Transcripts 

Recording GRAD Information on Transcripts

Minnesota Statute (M.S. 120B.30)[1] requires that a school, district, or charter school place on the high school transcript a student’s highest assessment score for each subject that has a required graduation assessment. MDE recommends using the following status codes to represent the highest assessment score:

Here are some examples of transcript notation as the student progresses through high school. These notations would be used regardless of the assessment used (MCA, GRAD, MTELL, MTAS, Writing Alternate Assessment).

Jane passed the writing GRAD in grade 9. She has yet to take the reading or math MCA or GRAD in grades 10 and 11.

Jane Doe – Fall of Grade 10

Pass

Jane passed the writing GRAD in grade 9, but did not pass the Reading MCA or GRAD taken in grade 10. She has yet to take the math MCA or GRAD.

Not pass

GRAD assessment status writing

Pass

Jane passed the writing GRAD in grade 9 and the Reading GRAD in the summer after grade 11, but has not passed the math GRAD despite several retest attempts. Under the current state statute, Jane may still graduate if she fulfilled the mathematics requirements for the alternate pathway to graduation. However, her transcript will have “Not pass” for mathematics.
