Campus Messenger with Voice
(ShoutPoint)
Campus Customers –
As you know this week (1/12/2009), Campus released 2009.2, which
included a major enhancement to Campus Messenger with Voice.
If your district decides to use Campus Messenger with Voice, powered
by ShoutPoint, you will be able to take advantage of several key
benefits:
1.
You can
leverage your Infinite Campus data and the system’s integration
and not have to deal with data exports to a third-party product –
critical in times of an emergency.
2.
Your
district no longer will need to rely on third-party software for
emergency notifications, reducing overall technology management
expenses.
3.
Because
the system is based on VOIP (voice over Internet protocol) from
ShoutPoint, your district will no longer have long distance charges
or have to invest in costly hardware.
What does this mean
for you?
1.
If your
district currently uses Campus Messenger with Voice:
-
Your district can
upgrade to 2009.2 and still utilize your current hardware
investment.
-
Infinite Campus
will continue to support the current hardware model for Campus
Messenger with Voice through the end of life of 2009.2, which is
December 2009.
-
If
your district wants to go to our new “hardware-less” or
ShoutPoint option, it will be available in March 2009.
-
Your district can
contact your client executive and receive a prorated credit for
the license, hosting and support fees if you choose to move
prior to your contract renewal date. For example, if your
district’s renewal is July 1, 2009 and you want to move to the
ShoutPoint option April 1, 2009, Infinite Campus will credit
your district for three (3) months of license, hosting and
support fees.
-
If your district
wants to line up the move to the hardware-less/ShoutPoint
solution on your renewal date, no credit will be applied.
-
A point of
caution: Check your Telco vendor contract as well, since you may
still be obligated to them even though your telephony service
would change to VOIP via ShoutPoint.
2.
